Farm service providers in CamNorte attended forum in response to impacts of climate change

Held at Audio Visual Room of Provincial Capitol Bldg, Daet, Camarines Norte last November 5, 2019; attended and participated by service providers of production and post production agricultural machineries in the province both from the government and private service providers such as FAs/Coops.

Issues and concerns were raised and addressed by DA representative and OPAg headed by Engr. Almirante A. Abad and Engr. Harold R. Gestiada of the Engineering Division. Other important concerns were the requirements and the person-in-charge in the issuance of permit or license to operate.

Participants also requested to have an actual demonstration in the operation of mechanical rice transplanter along with the combine harvester. This will also show comparison between conventional method to mechanized from land preparation up to harvesting. Mr. Gil Del Barrio suggested an area for the demo. Transplanter (walk-behind/ride-in type) and combine harvester will be provided by the Provincial Government-OPAg. They also requested for an updated Cost and Return analysis (CRA) considering current operating costs and price of palay.

Farm service providers were also requesting for atleast one day training/seminar on the operation and maintenance concerning the safety of operator. Issues/concerns raised will be again presented during the conduct of Assessment and Consultation Meeting in November of the following year to evaluate if actions has been made or needed additional time to accommodate them.
