Held at the Freedom Park in front of Provincial Capitol Building, Agri-Tourism Trade Fair was formally opened on April 16, 2019 around three o’clock in the afternoon. This activity is one of the segments of the 15th Bantayog Festival and 99th Foundation Anniversary of Camarines Norte. It was formally started through a program hosted by Ms. Ma. Gisela B. Nasol of OPAg; remarks were given by the Provincial Agriculturist Engr. Almirante A. Abad. As he stated, the fair will be 2 weeks long and on that period, farmers have the opportunity to promote not just their agricultural produce but also their processed and value-adding products. He also emphasized that the trend these days was agri-tourism that is why some farms in Camarines Norte were already converted to an agri-tourism farm.
Also, as Ms. Cynthia G. Olaguer of Department of Trade and Industry said, this fair was favorable to their clients to showcase the products found exclusive in Camarines Norte only. Most of the participants were clients of Negosyo Center, she also imparted that Camarines Norte when participating in Manila has been the top seller especially on food category.
Meanwhile, in behalf of the governor and vice governor, Provincial Tourism Officer Mr. Mariano E. Palma said that aside from the beautiful scenery, people tend to look for food that is sole in Camarines Norte. He also said that agri-tourism has an aspect of providing twist on raw and simple products that we can proudly say “tatak CamNorteño”. This is the same with souvenir products which gave the tourism office the idea of having a pasalubong center somewhere in Daet along the diversion road for easy access. The only challenge now is how to strengthen the tourism sector in Camarines Norte along with agriculture. As he leaves this line “We are not competing with each other, but rather complimenting with each other”, he believed that as
CamNorteño, we are able to reach what we are aiming in the world of agri-tourism as long as we work as a team.
