Issues and concerns were raised especially on the discussion of RA 11203 or Rice Tarrification Act of 2019 where importation, exportation and trading of rice are liberalized lifting the quantitative restriction on rice. It has been cleared the detachment of some functions of National Food Authority such as licensing and accrediting grain businesses (wholesale/retail) and even on registering entities on processing and manufacturing, nonetheless, NFA will maintain sufficient rice buffer stock to be sourced solely from local farmers. NFA will still continue to do their part to help local farmers and see after 6 years the outcome of the said bill as long as it will be of great help to our local farmers, they will continue to support the policy of the government.
On the other hand, residents of some areas in Paracale raised their concern on the unutilized irrigation facility at Brgy. Tawig. With this, NIA presented the targeted irrigation project either construction or repair/rehab of existing system moreover, they are going to conduct visitation of the project to know and resolve the said issue. Upon clearing all concerns, the activity was ended around 4:00 in the afternoon.
