Provincial Government of Camarines Norte continues to support Projects on Pili and Coffee

          The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) through of Engr. Almirante Abad and support of the Provincial government, Mr. Ador T. Sanchez Agriculturist II, Pili Cacao, Coffee Provincial Coordinator conducted various training and meetings that cater the pili, cacao, coffee farmers and processors.

          August 30, 2019—a consultative meeting on Pili Farmers and Processors happen at APTC Sitio, Mat-I Sto. Domingo, Vinzons, Camarines Norte was participated by 13 – female and 25 – male attendees. The activity created awareness on the status of the pili industry of the province, issues and concerns of the farmers and processors were being addressed and the importance of cooperative formation and its benefit to the members.

           Another consultation meeting with the coffee farmers was held on November 6, 2019 at the same venue, participated by 10-female and 12-male coffee farmers. This meeting shed light regarding the status of coffee plantation and concerns on the marketing aspect of coffee. It was agreed upon during the meeting that a training on Postharvest Technology and Coffee Processing be conducted.

          Consultative meeting also for cacao farmers and processors was conducted on December 5, 2019, and participated by 16-female, 8-male cacao farmers and processors, discussed were the status of cacao plantation of the province, marketing aspect, plans for geotagging of cacao plantation to determine its exact location and area and farmers profiling were also raised. The status of the processing facility located at Iberica, Labo, Camarines Norte was also verified if it is still functional.

          Meanwhile, Training on Coffee Production, Propagation and Postharvest with Processing was conducted last September 25 and December 9, 2019 respectively participated by  37-female and  46-male

coffee farmers. The participants were updated on the latest technology on coffee production, proper postharvest techniques and value-adding to attain a successful coffee industry the Province and throughout the Bicol Region.
